Eyes forward and punch it.

There is this glorious meme that emerged after the Phelps / Clos event in the Olympics. The caption reads "Focusing on others will only slow you down". 

Comparison is natural but that doesn't mean it should be embraced as acceptable. When we live in a place of comparing ourselves, our journey, our bodies to others, it can paralyze us from taking the necessary steps towards whatever the goal we put our sights on. 

In the context of fitness, it can prevent us from joining a gym, taking a class, trying a new movement even from making new friends if you perceive yourself as less than. The above is a vivid image that when you keep your eyes trained on the goal and step on the gas you are unstoppable. That doesn't mean victory will be a direct route. But as long as you keep your eyes forward you don't waste energy or focus that detracts from achieving the goal. 

You will attract likeminded people who will encourage you in your goal, push you to be more aggressive in your pursuit and you will be empowered to step out in confidence that while your journey is unique from others - it is still YOURS to be had.
