Brian and I have been in the fitness industry for a combined 20+ years. When it comes to transforming your body and sustaining that transformation we have seen time and time again that without a balanced foundation the yo-yo flux comes into play. It wasn't until I found myself 70lbs heavier after the birth of my daughter that I had my first real taste of what so many of my clients experience. 

Losing weight is not difficult. Lord knows it's a flooded market of pills, potions, diets, oils and contraptions that will help you lose weight. It's a naive person indeed that thinks working on your fitness is a simple as hopping on a treadmill and stepping it out for a few hours. 

But that indeed is the problem. Where do I start? Do I start running, because running burns calories? Do I eat carbs? What machines should I use? ... In our age of information it's overwhelming the number of options and mixed messages out there. 

My post-baby-body was a fluffly 70lbs heavier then my pre-baby weight. I had a mix of depression, desperation to reclaim my body, and shame that I let things get so out of hand. There was embarrassment around the fact that I was in the fitness industry and struggling with weight. 

As a trainer, I knew what I needed to do. The action behind it was the struggle. My postpartum journey was a rough one. Physical pain limited my activity level. I wallowed in the pain, and let myself sink further into a spiral of eating, depression and weight gain. It took almost a year before I was back in the gym at 100%. 

I am so grateful for that year. I have experienced something that so many experience where weight gain is concerned. It was through this process and the subsequent weight loss that I knew Iron Will Lifestyle was something that needed to be shared. I don't have Iron Will everyday. But I strive towards it. I stumble, I fail - but I continue that pursuit of Chasing my Iron Will. Knowing where to start is just one component.
